JUST A MONTH AGO: THE DAY OF LOVE

My wife and I

JUST A MONTH AGO: THE DAY OF LOVE

A month ago, from today, November 4, 2014,
It was a day so special
The dawn of dream come true
A day never to come its class
I call it the day of love

Because love made it what it was
It was the 'onening' with the one I love
Whose love is my life
Cause she has grown to become my heart
Just one heart for one

Not just the occupant of my heart
Nor the mere owner of my heart
She is my heart
The best in life I have
It was indeed the most savoured day of my life

I call it the day of love
Because love made it what it was
From her, my one and only
That had the courage to share
with me her life and destiny

Indeed love cannot be expressed
better than what she gave
with special reservation to the propitiation of Jesus my saviour
Although her love bore from His
I know because I can speak for my heart

I call it the day of love
Because love made it what it was
From him the great one I call father
Cause he gained a son
And never lost a daughter

From the very moment he opened his arms
And embraced me in love
I reckon love cannot be expressed better
than allowing one of the few that is more dear
than all the world and what it holds

Love and own another
Especially one who is an alien
And be loved and owned by same
While all the attention and love
Once enjoyed by him becomes of another

I call it the day of love
Because love made it what it was
from her siblings that accepted to love me
Regardless of my frailties
and choose to make one of their own

Like no other call me their brother
I treat me so, in deed not just verbally
it is an expression of love than anyone can
And today I belong this family
That their love birthed me into

I call it the day of love
Because love made it what it was
from two mothers who prayed their heart
and God's favour gave answers
Today my dreams I realize

The two mothers are mine
The first, bore me for nine months
and in love continues to bear and love me
The second, in love loves me
and both say 'yes, you can' in their kneels

Written a month after my wedding,
at the University of Pretoria
While on CPD programme
Having left Nigeria barely a month after tying the nuptial knot

Specially dedicated to my wife, love, life and heart.
